The Meaning Behind Photini

The name Photini (Φωτεινή) comes from the Greek word phos, meaning light.

It reflects something I believe deeply. Even during difficult times, there is a light within you that is always present, even when you can’t see it.

That belief is at the heart of Photini Counseling..

Where your light is seen.

Meet Photini

Photini Sikaras, LCPC

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Hi, I’m Photini

I’ve spent the past 18 years supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families through both difficult and meaningful moments in their lives.

What matters most to me is creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and genuinely connected. A space where you can speak openly about what you’re going through, without judgment. A space where you can feel truly seen.

My goal is to support you in seeing your strengths, reconnecting with yourself, and moving forward with greater clarity and confidence.

This work is deeply meaningful to me, and I feel honored to be part of your journey.

Where your light is seen.

My Approach

I offer a warm, genuine, and compassionate presence, where you can feel comfortable and able to speak openly about what you’re going through.

I provide therapy for children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life transitions.

At the heart of my work is connection. In that space, you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and experiences openly and without judgement.

Over time, this work can help you heal, reconnect with yourself, and begin to experience more joy.

Professional Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Professional School Counselor with over 18 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families in both school and clinical settings.

Over the course of my career, I have worked closely with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and significant life transitions.

I also have extensive experience supporting students experiencing self-harm and suicidal ideation, including implementing the SOS Suicide Prevention Program within my school district, in collaboration with Elyssa’s Mission.

I believe deeply in the power of connection and trusting relationships. It is through these relationships that real change occurs. This belief remains at the heart of my philosophy.

This commitment to trusting relationships and service was recognized in 2018, when I was honored as Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Illinois School Counselor Association (ISCA) for the state of Illinois.

These experiences continue to shape the dedicated care I provide to every client and student I serve.

You don’t have to
